About Porter-Hay Insurance

Porter-Hay Insurance is an independent insurance agency serving individuals, families, farms, businesses, schools, and public entities across Illinois and beyond. Our local agents work with a network of insurance companies to help clients compare coverage options and find protection that fits their needs.

Our agency was formed in early 2016 when Porter Insurance in Alexis and Chuck Hay Insurance in Galva and Galesburg joined together. Each agency brought a strong history of service and specialized experience. Porter Insurance had a strong focus on farm and multi-peril coverage, while Chuck Hay Insurance had deep experience in commercial insurance, personal lines, and health insurance.

Today, Porter-Hay Insurance is licensed in six states and offers expertise across many lines of insurance. We are proud to be part of the 1870 Holdings, Inc. family of companies and to continue serving clients with local guidance, personal service, and trusted insurance solutions.

Our History

Since becoming Porter-Hay Insurance in 2016, our agency has continued to grow through service, relationships, and strategic acquisitions.

2016: Porter Insurance and Chuck Hay Insurance became Porter-Hay Insurance, combining decades of local agency experience.
September 2017: Porter-Hay Insurance purchased the Carl Swanson Agency of Galesburg and moved that business into our newly constructed office.
June 2018: Porter-Hay Insurance purchased the Ron James Agency in Oquawka and continued serving clients from the Oquawka office.
December 2018: Porter-Hay Insurance purchased the Kiddoo Agency from Doug and Barb Kiddoo in Joy. This office now operates out of Aledo.
January 2019: Porter-Hay Insurance purchased the Orville Minteer Agency in Andalusia. Kyle Johnson and his staff continue to operate that book of business.
March 2021: Porter-Hay Insurance purchased the Bill Farm Agency, and that book of business moved into our Alexis office.
April 2021: Porter-Hay Insurance purchased the Cratty Agency in Galesburg. Mark Cratty moved into our Galesburg office and continues to take care of his book of business.
July 2023: Porter-Hay Insurance purchased Blaser Agency in Moline and Insurance Exchange Agency in New Windsor. Ted Blaser continues to work with clients from the Moline office, while Insurance Exchange Agency clients are primarily serviced out of the Galesburg office.
February 2024: Porter-Hay Insurance purchased North-And Co Agency, a unique agency that sells crop insurance and operates as a commodities brokerage in Galva. Dave North and Jim Anderson continue to work with clients from Galva.
